Thanks to everyone who came to this week's FFC meetup and welcome to two new members Lexy and Madison! This week was a little different than the last two weeks because for the first time we weren't floored by the food. This is good because we want some sort of balance or scale to rate things on, right? Pick up Stixx offered good, solid kebabs, just nothing mind blowing. Lots and lots of options to choose from if you like variety. Four different kebab options with probably 15 sauce options, think of all the possibilities! However, the other items on the menu, the sliders and pierogies, were very delicious. I highly recomment the pierogi with prociutto (only $1.50!). At the end of the night we all left stuffed and not too broke so I say you get your bang for your buck (yup I love that saying). I don't give this cart a thumbs down, but I don't give it two thumbs up either and all in all, the "more" outweighed the "kebabs."

  1. For 6 bucks I got a pierogi and a lamb kabob w/tomato and jalapeno preserve. The lamb and veggies were delicious but the preserve was a little sweet for my taste so next time I will try a different sauce. The pierogi w/ prosciutto was really good too! I might spend more money though because I am still a little peckish.

Bad things: not enough seating, no bathrooms, no music, they didn't call your name or bring your food out to you when the food was ready.
Good things: BYOB, food was "better than I could make" which doesn't really say much, however it was good, but not great. I probably wouldn't come back, but it did fill me up for the price paid.

The best thing about this place was the price and the fact that it was located in a food cart. There were three picnic tables and maybe 7 parking spots. Service at PUS was less than par. Credit card processing was slow, service wasn't very friendly and over all it just seemed unorganized. The price was great and BYOB is always a plus. The neighborhood was kinda shady and it wasn't really close to anything worth visiting except for the shops on south first. But I wasn't interested in getting up and walking over to look at over priced vintage clothes. But lets get down to the most important part, the food. The veg kabob was ... a kabob. Not a lot of veggies on it. They had a lot of sauce options but not a lot of veggie options. The pierogies were not traditional Polish pierogies and were mediocre in taste. All in all I will be visiting SoFi food court again but not PUS.

Pick Up Stixx was good but unfortunately I can't give it raving reviews. The price was excellent, you get plenty of food for what you pay. The atmosphere wasn't great. Not a lot of parking/seating and service was okay. No name calling or table service like at previous food carts. No bathrooms. BYOB is always good though. However, the pierogi with prosciutto was yum, and so was the feta chick slider. The kabob, the namesake, was just okay. I was really excited about the honey mustard ancho sauce but it wasn't strong enough for me, also I would have liked more veggies. Good, solid kebabs, but nothing new or memorable.

Gorgeous fall evening with beer and wine at a picnic table under a tree. We wander over to order our food from Pick Up Stixx. I stop by Grill Haven for some sweet potato fries and a shrimp taco for $4. Wow. Very tasty. Taco had a bit of spice in the sauce. From PUS I ordered two sliders and a pierogi. Not impressed with the slider bread. In fact slider was much better without. Surprisingly fried when I expected not. Pierogi was tasty. Price was great!! I recommend Grill Haven over PUS, at least the sliders (cowabunga beefy mac).

The pierogis at only a dollar were freaking amazing. The cowabunga slider was delicious and highly recomended. Beefy mack slider was okay and sounded better. The kabob was good, outshone by the foccacia. Definitely will go again. Great value.

    I had the:
-cowabunga- really good! Different than what I was expecting, but delicious.
-pierogi- delicious as well! It's like cheesy mashed potatoes inside a fried shell.
-beef kabob- my favorite! A real kabob served with veggies and foccacia bread, I felt like I got the biggest experience from this.
    At Fried Green Tomatoes:
-fried green tomatoes- amazing! I loved these! Served with a green salsa which complemented them perfectly!

Well, it wasn't half bad. I really loved the feta greek sauce on the beef. You only get one kabob for you $. You're supposed to get a veggie stick too, but mine only came with one pepper and one pineapple. My foccacia was half soggy and I'm weird about texture so...yeah. The flavor of everything was actually really good but the way it was put together could have been better.
